SENIORS AND THE 2012
ELECTION
The
2012 elections may be the
most important that we Seniors
have seen in our lifetimes.
Medicare, Medicaid, and
Social Security are all
under attack, and have
become political footballs
that some political types
are willing to sacrifice.
The budget cannot be
balanced on the backs of
Seniors who have worked all
of our lives, and have paid
into a system that made
promises for our retirement.
If you have never been
politically active before,
this is the time to change
that. Pay close attention to
what the candidates are
saying about our programs.
Make sure you are registered
to vote.
Be
aware that some states are
making it harder to register
and vote, believing that
Seniors will not bother with
new identification
requirements.
Be bothered. You must be
heard at the next election.
Go to congressional town
halls and campaign speeches.
Speak up loudly. Make them
listen. Use email to contact
your Congressman, Senators,
and President. Call them on
the phone to register your
opinions. They really do
keep track of what
constituents are saying.
The bottom line is that we
must become deeply involved
in the political process
through the 2012 elections.
Our future will depend upon
it.
